The animals at Shepherds Hill are an important part of nursery life. Through caring for them and learning how to handle them properly the children develop a love of and respect for animals. This helps to foster a sense of responsibility and stewardship for our fellow creatures.

At Easter time we often hatch out our own ducklings and chicks and watch them change from eggs, to tiny, fluffy chicks and finally  into fun and friendly adults.

Our guinea pigs are a daily attraction, and with their gentle and friendly personalities they have helped some of our sensitive children grow in confidence with all the animals.
